Permanent Patio Cover
While the temporary marquee in front of the Dhammahall has been very useful, a solid permanent roof structure is planned. Additionally, we plan to expand the concrete area outside the shrine room for better viewing through the folding doors protected from the weather.
We havn't settled on a detailed design concept yet, and are currently working on getting quotes from contractors, to investigate the best possible options. We're leaning towards a 'Fly-Over' roof style, to maximise ventilation, and to allow plenty of natural light to reach under the roof. Our intention is to cover the complete area in front of the Dhamma Hall, so the patio roof will shelter a much larger space than the existing marquees.
The new roof will protect us all from the strong Queensland sun, and will also provide shelter from rain, under a substantially extended covered area of some 300 square meters.
As we're only in the beginning of the planning process, it's not yet possible to provide accurate cost estimates. However, as this will be the final configuration for the front area of our Dhamma Hall, we intend to use superior quality materials and finishes, including insolated panels with integrated lights and fans, meaning costs may approach (or possibly exceed) $200k.
