The New Uposatha Hall at Wat Pah Nanachat
Updated: Oct 27, 2023
Ajahn Dhammasiha is currently attending the Uposatha Hall opening and Sīma Inauguration at Wat Pah Nanachat in Thailand. Wat Pah Nanachat is the monastery established by Ajahn Chah in 1975 specially for foreign monks. Ajahn Sumedho was the first abbot.
After almost 50 years, and after training hundreds of Western monks, it is very appropriate for the Wat to finally receive an official 'sīma' ('monastic territory') and uposatha hall to perform 'vinaya-kamma' (formal, legal acts of the sangha). It is a very big event, and the first real opportunity for the international sangha of Ajahn Chah to meet up again after 2 years of restrictions and border closures.
